🗻🎌 Mount Fuji (富士山, Fujisan), at 3775 meters (12,385 ft) Japan’s tallest mountain. With its perfectly shaped symmetrical cone shape, the mountain has been worshiped as a sacred mountain for centuries. It last erupted in 1707 and spewed ash all across Tokyo. And since it’s a dormant volcano, it’s only a matter of time before it erupts again. On clear days, you can see Mount Fuji from Tokyo.

While you can climb Fuji itself, the area around the mountain are a nature lover’s dream! Volcanic activity is responsible for creating the five lakes at the mountain’s base, and numerous caves (including a perpetual ice cave) near dense Aokigahara Forest. The area is also blessed with many mineral-rich hot springs, making the region a paradise for both outdoor recreation and relaxation.
