Kamikochi
Kamikochi is an around 15 km-long valley located in Nagano prefecture of Japan. This area is 1500 meters above sea level and surrounded by the Northern Japan Alps and part of Chubu Sangaku National Park.
Kamikochi is officially open for tourists in mid-April and closes in mid-November. A large number of tourists visit here in August because of the summer vacations of students and long holidays (Obon Yasumi) of working people.
The temperature in Kamikochi is about 18 to 25°C in summer (August), which is 5 to 15°C lower than in Tokyo. Tourists visit here for hiking, camping, to enjoy the river, eat local food, summer vegetables, fishes from river, especially a fish AYU, and many more.
The color of these mountains changes in autumn, but because of a typhoon in September, it may be challenging to visit here.
Kamikochi is closed in winter.
The mountains around Kamikochi are almost covered by snow in spring and you may feel like winter.
Private cars are not allowed to prevent from noise, air pollution, and traffic. You have to take a bus or taxi to visit Kamikochi.
Monkeys and various birds are mainly observed as wildlife here and Bear is rarely seen.
