Located about 12 km from Ghoom and 5 km from Sukhiapokhri, the place has all the beauties that North Bengal can boast of – views of Kanchenjumgha, tea gardens, hills, forests of fir and pine, mountain rivers and an extremely beautiful homestay.
How to reach Mim Tea Estate?
From Siliguri –
Take a shared cab from NJP to SIliguri towards Darjeeling and get down at Ghoom. From there, hire a car to Mim Tea EState or Mim Busty.
Shared jeeps to Sukhiapokhri is also available from Siliguri, but the numbers are less.
If you are coming from Darjeeling, take a shared jeep to Sukhiapokhri. From there, hire a car to Mim Tea Estate.
Distances:
Siliguri to Mim Tea Estate: 75 km
Darjeeling to Mim Tea Estate: 20 km
Ghoom to Mim Tea Estate: 12 km
Sukhiapokhri to Mim Tea Estate: 5 km
You can also hire a car from Siliguri to Mim Tea Estate. Rate for hiring a car from Siliguri/ NJP to Mim is Rs.3500.00
Rate for hiring a car from Sukhiapokhri to Mim Tea Estate: Rs.1000.00
Where to Stay?
There are 2 homestays at Mim. We had stayed at Little Forest homestay.
Little Forest Homestay
Little Forest Homestay homestay is located a little uphill and is surrounded by forests of fir and pine and is absolutely heavenly. Double bed rooms and family rooms are available here, as well as cottages.
There is a huge dining room inside the property. The food served here is also quite delicious. Both veg and non-veg are served.
Rate for Cottage: INR 2000 per head per day including stay and food.
Rate for Rooms: INR 1750 per head per day including stay and food.
(This rate was during the time we visited in April 2022).
What to do at Mim?
1. Sit back and relax and enjoy the view of the mountains
2. Visit the tea gardens
3. Visit Mim Tea Estate
4. Walk through Mim Busty
5. Visit the Rangeet River
(Rangeet River is about 45 minutes drive from Little Forest Homestay. We took a cab to visit the riverside and the tea estate. The rate for the cab was Rs.1000.00)
6. Visit the local Sukhiapokhri market
7. Visit Lepchajagat.
