Vanlife Japan Ch 49: Kimono Date 👘
My first REAL date with my Japanese husband! Wearing kimono (着物) in Kyoto is something every foreign tourist dreams of and today we’re going on our first kimono date together despite being married and living in Japan together for 3+ years!
In today’s Kyoto travel vlog we’re giving you an insight into fun Japanese dating culture, walking around the popular tourist destination of Arashiyama and showing you our experience of renting retro kimonos in Japan for the day, as well as eating some traditional Japanese sweets (dango, 団子) in the beautiful eX Cafe.
Even after the Japan lockdown lifted, Kyoto is empty. We were surprised to see the famous bamboo forest in Arashiyama with no crowds. It was a strangely private, but completely unforgettable date experience without any people.
