「松山城」や「宇和島城」など、愛媛県の「お城と桜」の風景を満喫できる桜名所を4つご紹介します！
松山城（まつやまじょう）は、松山市の中心部にある城郭跡で、敷地一帯は国の「史跡」に指定されており、「日本100名城」と「日本さくら名所100選」の両方に選ばれた、愛媛県を代表する桜名所です。
松山城は江戸時代から残る「現存12天守」の一つで、松山城の本丸は標高132mの勝山の山頂にあり、ロープウェイやリフトで気軽に登っていけるほか、森林浴を楽しみながら徒歩でも登っていけます。
天守は国の「重要文化財」に指定されており、大天守と小天守・隅櫓を渡り廊下で結んだ構造で、攻守の機能に優れた日本一の連立式天守と言われます。天守のほかにも、櫓や門など貴重な遺構が多く現存し、当時の姿を今に伝えます
道後公園（どうごこうえん）は、三千年もの歴史をもつといわれる「道後温泉」に隣接した公園で、中世の城郭であった「湯築城跡」に整備された公園です。湯築城（ゆづきじょう）は、国の「史跡」に指定されており、「日本100名城」の一つに数えられます。
松山地方気象台は、道後公園の桜を標本木に指定し、愛媛県の桜前線の目安とされる桜名所です。
近年の発掘調査で、当時の遺構や遺物が多数出土し、中世の武家屋敷や土塀が復元されています。また、武家屋敷の内部には遺物や資料も展示されています。
公園中央部の丘陵の上には展望台が設置されており、松山城や松山市街、瀬戸内の島々まで一望できます。100名城から100名城を望める、数少ない場所です。
宇和島城（うわじまじょう）は、愛媛県南西部の宇和島市にあった城郭跡で、江戸時代から残る「現存12天守」の一つであり、国の「史跡」に指定され、「日本100名城」の一つにも数えられます。
宇和島城は「築城名人」として知られる藤堂高虎が築いた城で、「空角の経始」と呼ばれる縄張りを採用しており、五角形の縄張りを四角形と錯覚させる設計で、実際に幕府が送り込んだ隠密も欺かれました。
その後、宇和島には伊達氏が入封し、現存する天守も伊達氏が改修したものです。
今治城（いまばりじょう）は、愛媛県北部の今治市にあった城郭跡で、香川県の高松城、大分県の中津城と共に「日本三大水城」の一つに数えられ、「日本100名城」にも選定されています。
今治城も「築城名人」として知られる藤堂高虎が築いた城で、関ヶ原の合戦にて、徳川軍の先陣で活躍した功により、伊予半国を与えられ、城郭と城下町を整備しました。
今治城は三重の堀に海水を引き入れた特異な構造で、当時は海から堀へ直接船で入ることができるなど、海上交通の要所今治らしく海を最大限に活用しました。
今治城の現在の天守は1980年に再建されたもので、その後も門や櫓の復元が進められています。

Here are four cherry blossom viewing spots in Ehime Prefecture, including Matsuyama Castle and Uwajima Castle, where you can fully enjoy the scenery of “castles and cherry blossoms”!
Matsuyama Castle is a castle ruin located in the center of Matsuyama City. The entire site is designated as a national “historic site” and is one of Ehime Prefecture’s representative cherry blossom viewing spots, having been selected as both one of the “100 best castles in Japan” and one of the “100 best cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan.
Matsuyama Castle is one of the “12 existing castle towers” remaining from the Edo period. The castle tower is designated as a national “Important Cultural Property” and is said to be the best interconnecting tower in Japan with excellent offensive and defensive functions, consisting of a large tower, a small tower, and a corner turret connected by a corridor. In addition to the castle tower, there are many other valuable remains, such as turrets and gates, which show what the castle looked like in its original state.
Dogo Park is a park adjacent to Dogo Hot Springs, which is said to have a history of 3,000 years, and was developed on the site of Yuzuki Castle, which was a medieval castle. Yuzuki Castle is designated as a national “Historic Site” and is one of the “100 Best Castles in Japan.
Recent excavations have unearthed many remains and artifacts from that period, and a medieval samurai residence and earthen walls have been reconstructed.
The observatory at the top of the hill in the center of the park offers a panoramic view of Matsuyama Castle, the city of Matsuyama, and the islands of the Seto Inland Sea, making it one of the few places where you can see the 100 famous castles from the top of the 100 famous castles.
Uwajima Castle was located in Uwajima City in southwestern Ehime Prefecture. It is one of the “12 remaining castle towers” from the Edo period, designated as a national “Historic Site” and one of the “100 Great Castles of Japan”.
Uwajima Castle was built by Takatora Todo, known as a “master builder of castles.
Later, the Date clan settled in Uwajima, and the current castle tower was renovated by the Date clan.
Imabari Castle, located in Imabari City in northern Ehime Prefecture, is one of the “Three Great Water Castles of Japan” along with Takamatsu Castle in Kagawa Prefecture and Nakatsu Castle in Oita Prefecture, and has been selected as one of the “100 Great Castles of Japan.
Imabari Castle was also built by Takatora Todo, known as a “master builder of castles”.
Imabari Castle had a unique structure with seawater drawn into the triple moat.
The present tower of Imabari Castle was reconstructed in 1980, and the restoration of the gates and turrets has been underway since then.
