AWESOME!!! In the north of Japan there is the Tateyama Yuki-no-Ōtani mountain route, known for its huge walls of snow that can reach between 10 and 20 meters in height.
→ Popular with tourists, the Tateyama Alpine Route links Toyama and Nagano prefectures: each year it is closed for the winter and reopens around April.
One of the main tourist attractions on the route is a section with imposing snow walls.
The photos are from November 2021, but heavy snowfall is currently being recorded, even the accumulation of snow this year is greater than that which occurred previously.
→They say there is 160 centimeters of snow, 20 more than usual, in Fujibashi and 710 centimeters in Murodo, 150 more than usual.
The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route’s snow corridor is best seen from mid April to late June. Visitors can walk a small section of the snow corridor around Murodo, which is the highest point on the route accessible by public transport.

雪の回廊が出現 八甲田の除雪本格 化
青森市から十和田湖に至る 「八甲田・十和 田ゴールドライン」で除雪作業が本格化し、 八甲田山系に春の訪れを告げる 「雪の回廊」 ができはじめている。
ゴールドラインのうち、 積雪が多く、冬季 は閉鎖される酸ケ湯一谷地間 ( 8キロ)の除 雪は2月下旬に始まった。 青森側と十和田側 の両方からブルドーザーで雪をかき、 ロータ リー車で道幅を広げており、3月14日には酸 ケ湯から約2キロの地点で、7メートルほどの 雪の壁ができていた。
今年は青森市の平野部で記録的な大雪とな ったが、山間部では例年より少し多い程度と いう。 八甲田除雪隊の作見晃一隊長(49)は 「今春は暖かく雪がとけるのが早いと思うの で、早く来て、きれいな壁を見てほしい」と 話した。
