This Place is known to foreigners like us a SNOW MONKEY PARK- but its called JIGOKUDANI YAEN -KOEN a protected area on the mountains of Nagano Prefecture, Japan, where this Japanese macaques are inhabiting. You can come here any time of the year, but I wanted to see them during winter when they are bathing in hot spring.
Nagano Prefecture is almost 7 hours of non stop drive from our place in Osaka ( Izumisano City) via express way and it cost us 13,000 yen of toll fee. Though you can save this toll fee if you drive avoiding toll fee but it will also cost you so much time ( OSAKA- NAGANO ) no toll est at least 10 hrs then you have to factor traffics, and stop over.
We stay the night in Nagano City and head on to this place in the morning, from Nagano city to this mountain is around 45 minutes.
When I’ve seen vlogs and photos about this place, It looks surreal to me, that this is one of my “must see” place in Japan.
This doesn’t disappoint, The amazing thick snows make the place more beautiful. If given. chance I would like to come back here again during winter time ofcourse to stay the night and try the Human Onsen. its on the houses before we climbed up the entrance to the Monkey park.
