The local meteorological service said it was the heaviest snowfall in the last 23 years and the accumulated #snow was more than 1 meters high. The Hokkaido Railway Company stopped all the trains to and from #Sapporo Station for the first time in a decade because they said it was too late to clear the railways of snow. The public transport and cars traffic was also paralyzed. The locals captured pictures and videos of heavy snowfall on their smartphones and shared what they saw with the whole world.
