This is an edited and shortened version of the Kumano-gawa River Boat Tour, which is part of the World Heritage listed Kii Peninsula Sacred Pilgrimage Routes, located in Shingu City, Wakayama Prefecture.
After trekking from far away, pilgrims visiting Kumano Hayatama Taisha Grand Shrine from Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine would take wooden boats down the Kumano-gawa River, traversing a large distance without tiring out their bodies. For hundreds of years, this route has aided many in their journeys and can experienced in the same style today.
Though the boat tour is much better in person, immerse yourself in the video, listen to the guided tour and enjoy the scenery until you can come here yourself!

その昔、皇族たちが熊野本宮大社と熊野速玉大社を巡拝する際に利用した川舟下りを体験。道の駅「瀞峡街道 熊野川」から乗船し、熊野速玉大社近くの権現河原まで約90分間の川下りが楽しめます。船から望む景色を語り部が案内してくれて、歴史や物語も一緒に知ることができます。
