All museums hold stories and demand your visit at least once. Let’s take a walk through the rich history of cameras, in Museo Camera . The museum is located in Gurugram, Haryana. It is dedicated to the history of photography. Museo Camera is the only photography and Camera Museum in India which also traces the history of photography from the 1870s to the Digital Era . The beauty of the old cameras was something else from what we have today. The first museum in South- East Asia which was set up by Aditya Arya, who being a student of history wanted the present generation to understand where the photography came from. Cameras like K-20 which were used in World War II to shoot the infamous image of mushroom cloud over Nagasaki and Hiroshima are exhibited in the museum. Cameras from different eras have a different story and vibe behind it. The museum has relevance and the crux of Indian history. Everybody should make it a point to visit the museum, especially students. The collection includes cameras that captured the Indian freedom struggle. The learning we get from the museum is both iconic, and necessary. The museum also has another two floors, where various exhibitions and workshops are held .Our last stop was the in-house ‘Fig At Museo’ café where they served amazing snacks and coffee. Tucked inside the museum in Sector 28, it is built with the essence of promoting the idea of wellbeing, health and taste. So do take your time out with your family, friends and children and take a trip down the photographic memory lane at this one-of-a-kind vintage camera museum located in Gurugram. It has a collection of more than 2500 cameras.
As photographers, the museum and Aditya Arya gave us motivation to see how we and the cameras have evolved over the years and a chance to witness the evolution of the cameras dating back from the 1800’s!
