In this vlog you can see the Horohira bridge.
Just beyond Nakajima Park, the wide Toyohira River runs through Sapporo and Hokkaido Marathon participants cross it via the Horohira Bridge. Portland Square, located at the foot of the arch commemorates Sapporo’s first sister city Portland, Oregon USA.
The Horohira Bridge, named after the connecting Sapporo and Toyohira towns at the beginning of the Showa period, was built in 1997 .
The downstream sidewalk is a “Plaza Portland” that commemorates the 35th anniversary of the sister city alliance with Portland City, and is decorated with monuments, reliefs, flower beds and more.
From the Horo hira bashi subway station it is at a 5min walk distance.
