Hiking up a snowy Mt. Sakado in winter is a great activity to enjoy the crisp, fresh air and amazing scenery on sunny days in Snow Country!

The mountain is 634 meters at its summit (the same height as Tokyo Skytree) and only a 20-minute walk from JR Muikamachi Station. There is historical significance with Sakado Castle Ruins from Japan’s feudal period, and today it is the city’s most popular hiking spot thanks to its easy access from town and beautiful scenery that changes with each season.

Many local residents hike here daily, regardless of the weather. As a result, even in winter a clear hiking path up the mountain is made from people’s footsteps and Mt. Sakado becomes the perfect spot to give winter hiking a try!
