「ラ・ロトンダ」として知られるヴィラ・アルメリコ・カプラは、北イタリアの都市ヴィチェンツァから南へ2kmほどの位置にある、田園風景の中に建つヴィラ（villa、郊外の邸宅）です。16世紀の建築家アンドレーア・パッラーディオが設計したルネサンスのヴィラで、”La Rotonda”（イタリア語で「円い」の意味）という呼称の通り、円を中心とする四方にファサードを持つ建物です。ゆるやかな丘の上に建っており、建物の角度は東西南北から45°傾いています。
Villa Almerico Capra, known as Villa La Rotonda, is a villa in the countryside, about 2km south of the northern Italian city of Vicenza. A Renaissance villa designed by 16th-century architect Andrea Palladio, it has facades on all sides around the circle, as the name “La Rotonda” (Italian for “circle”) means. It stands on a gentle hill, and the angle of the building is 45 ° from north, south, east and west.
