I originally planned to visit Lassen Volcanic National Park after Crater Lake this summer. It closed the day before We planned to go and we ended up going to San Francisco instead. Now I’m Back! And I drove from Chester California checking out the burn area on my way to the park.

I passed over the spot where the Pacific Crest Trail crosses the road and the burn area along the trail before reaching the park. The Dixie Fire left scorched trees the whole drive. They were cleaning up some of the down trees along the way and the entire drive was unbelievable.

It was in between season at Lassen Volcanic NP. The park road was closed for winter, but there was still too little snow for winter activities. I hiked up the road to Sulphur Works and checked out the thermal features in the park! It was great to check off another one of California’s National Parks!

Next up is Yosemite! #lassenvolcanic #dixiefire #nationalparks

I use the Native Lands website and App to learn the history of people native to the areas that are now national parks. This is a great place to learn more about the people of America and this history of where you live.

My goal for 2021 is to visit every National Park in the United States. I’m starting by converting a cargo van into a place to live on the road. Follow along as I take on #vanlife and raod trip across the US.

In early 2020 I quit my job to travel full time. I started a blog as a way to share the story of my journey and aspirations as a solo female traveler. Check it out at lauraonthemove.com
