ICELAND
The Land of Ice and Fire!
We were there from April 11 to 14, 2019. It was spring. The snow has started to melt.
We went to the Blue Lagoon, toured the Golden Circle, and walked around Reykjavik.
The Blue Lagoon was named as one of the 25 wonders of the world by the National Geographic in 2012. It is a geothermal spa. The lagoon is actually man-made and the water is from a nearby geothermal power plant. Its temperature is at 37 to 39 degrees Celsius. It feels really good when you are in the water and really cold when you are out! The water has high silica content and is also rich in salts and algae. (And everyone gets free silica mud mask! Yey!)
During the Golden Circle Tour, we saw the Kerid Crater, Faxi Waterfalls, Gulfoss Waterfalls, Geysir, and the Thingvellir National Park (which is one of the settings of Game of Thrones).
When we were in Iceland, there was a storm warning. It was so cold and windy. I almost got blown away by the wind. It was raining, too. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the trip. 🙂
