The night continues, with Shizuka and Rodney sufficiently full and ready for a night of bar hopping in Osaka! They visit three unique bars in Osaka, centered in the Namba district, Osaka’s most famous entertainment, shopping, and nightlife area.

Shizuka and Rodney’s foray into the world of Osaka nightlife begins at a tiny bar in Namba, Osaka where they enjoy Wakayama gin from Osaka’s neighboring prefecture and chat with the owner Saya-san, and the other rowdy patrons.

Next up, they visit another hidden bar in Namba, and sip from overflowing glasses of Japanese sake (nihonshu), both sweet and dry varieties. Then, the bar foods come out and Shizuka is confronted with torisashi (raw chicken) and the less-intimidating seseri (chicken neck). To err on the side of caution during day 1 of her 6-day Osaka trip, she sticks with the latter as Rodney takes on the sashimi.

The last stop is a whiskey bar run by a friend of Rodney’s, Akagi-san. Besides whiskey, he also specializes in fresh fruit cocktails, and has a secret second floor for the adventurous…
