Hotokegaura is a mysterious place with a series of white green strange rocks. It is in Shimokita peninsula, Aomori, Japan. Hotoke means “Buddha”. Hotokegaura means buddha’s cove.
Nearly 20 millions years ago deep sea volcanic activity created a precipice of green volcanic tuff around the current village of Sai in aomori prefecture. Over many years due to the wild waves, strong wind and rain eroded the precipice and turned it into an unique rock formation that streaches around 2km along the coast.
The highly contrasting color of emerald green water and the ivory white rocks makes this place magical. These seaside cliffs are really breathtaking.
The height of some rocks and cliffs are more than 100 meters and it looks like the statue of Buddha. So each rocks are names in relation to Buddhism such as “The head of Nyorai , Gokyaku-rakan, “Gokuraku beach .
You can see the huge rock formation closely. It’s a mysterious feeling, it’s like I have lost my way into the nature.
It is believed that the Hotokegaura is the gateway between this world and world of spirits.… do you believe that !!!
