This is our second time to visit KOYASAN where OKUNUIN cementery is, this time we took train, ( NANKA- KOYA LINE) up to GOKURAKUBASHI STATION then took the cable car to the mountain, then 30 minutes bus.
OKONUIN cementery is 1 day of itinerary alone, (there’s so much more to see and explore on the town) there’s at least 100 temples, and mausoleum that is very important to Japan’s History.
As we went on the middle of the day we reach OKONUIN 1PM, it then not enough time to see the temples.
Even I have been in here 2 times, there’s always somethings, to learn and some new area that you haven’t seen. This place is truly beautiful which ever season you come, but you really have to come prepared during winter here as it is very COLD and and the place is BEAUTIFULLY covered with ice.
When you take the train and you intend to visit for a day start early as it will take 2: 30 hrs from KANSAI airport// 2 hours from NAMBA. also make sure to take the NANKAI KOYA Line RAPID or NANKAI LIMITED EXPRESS otherwise if you mistaken to take the LOCAL train it will take you forever as it stops all stations. The scenery on the train towards the mountain is spectacular.
This visit was Last week of April 2021. and there was no tourist at all.
