Join us on our first week-long light bikepacking trip through Tottori and Shimane prefectures in Japan. We call it light, as we planned to stay in hotels instead of pitching a tent, which allowed us to take much less gear than most bikepackers! This video is our first day – taking our cross bike and mountain bike on the shinkansen for the first time and arriving in Tottori City.
What an amazing feeling it was when we arrived in Tottori after a long train ride, reassembled our bikes and cycled about 15km during sunset to a Japanese guesthouse by the sea. It was a beautiful cycle along the sand dunes and we could smell the sea. The guesthouse we booked was a traditional old house with very welcoming hosts who made us feel at home.
