A few weeks back I went out to the Japanese countryside of Gifu and Shiga to film another how its made video for my company. So this is a little travel vlog of the trip.
This time we got to see the making of katana or Japanese swords. Before that though we stayed in a really old traditional Japanese house. It was huge and absolutely beautiful!
My coworker actually owns a authentic 400 year old Katana that I got to hold as well! Samurai swords if properly taken care of can stay sharp and beautiful for 100s of years.
Making Japanese swords or katana is an extremely long and complex process, but we got to see how the steel is folded, forged in fire, as well as how the katana is sharpened and put together.
