PORT OF NAGOYA PUBLIC AQUARIUM 2021| FLYING DOLPHINS |JAPAN TRAVEL 2021
One of Japan’s biggest and best aquariums is the exciting Port Of Nagoya Public Aquarium at Nagoya Port. Home to Orca killer whales, dolphins and Beluga Whales, and featuring marine life from Japan to Antarctica, is laid out in two main pavilions, the North and South Buildings.
The North Building has the biggest outdoor tank in Japan. The main pool is 60×30 meters, and 12 meters deep. Covered stands seat up to 3,000 spectators, all eager to enjoy the entertaining and educational aquatic shows, supported by a large, high-vision monitor at the back of the pool. The main tank has a huge side window on the second floor, offering great views of the dolphins and Orca killer whales. The intelligent and playful killer whales and dolphins regularly move close to the thick glass walls and seemingly greet the visitors. Watching these marine creatures interact with children in particular, is a magical moment for all. White Beluga whales can also be seen, and their entertaining performances bring cries of “Kawaii, kawaii” (Cute, cute) from the children and girls in the audience.
The aquarium’s South Building is laid out in five different zones, and shows how the various species have adapted to their environments. One of the highlights of the South Building is the huge Kuroshio Tank filled with sparkling, darting silvery fish and larger marine life from around Japan. The Deep Sea gallery introduces the creatures that live in the silence and darkness of the deep, while the large coral reef tank is a colorful kaleidoscope of marine life. The Sea Turtle Migration Tank brings you face to face with one of the ocean’s endangered species, the sea turtle. Watching the large, slow, and graceful turtles is most relaxing. Another fascinating ecosystem is the Australian Freshwater display, with various types of turtle, tortoise, fish and river life unique to the land down under. The Antarctic Marine Life, Penguin Encounter is another popular attraction where many stop and sit on the terraces to watch the entertaining antics of the penguins.
The Port Of Nagoya Public Aquarium at Nagoya Port is surrounded by many other attractions and places of interest. Don’t be surprised if your whole day is swallowed up by the fishes!
