This is one of the short videos of my trip to Fukuoka in Japan.
Riding the Shinkansen from Hiroshima, I arrived Fukuoka’s Hakata Station in about 60mins. The ride was smooth, fast, timely and comfortable.
Upon arrival, I left my luggage at the hotel (as it was too early for check-in, usually at 3pm) and roamed the city. It was freezing cold especially it was raining then. Sky turned dark very early, around 5.30pm.
I made my way to the Canal City, about a good 12min walk from my hotel and it was a huge shopping mall with 2 main buildings with lots of departmental stores, shops and restaurants. There’s also a ramen stadium, with 10+ ramen specialty shops located side by side to one another and you will be spoiled for choices as everyone looked so good. (I returned a few days later and dined here)
Then, I walked along the Nankai canal and cameby several Yatai, the makeshift Japanese food stalls, one of the cultural aspects of Fukuoka. Surprisingly, it was not crowded as should be, possibly due to the rain and wet environment and I didn’t dine there too. But do note that there’s a “protocol” here in food ordering as every person is required to order at least one item and prices may not be cheap too.
I ended buying back dinner back to the hotel at one of the well-known local curry houses. It was good. Do checkout the relevant photos in my Tripadvisor, Instagram or Facebook profile.

This is one of the few short videos of my trip to Kagoshima in Kyushu in Japan.
It is the capital of Kagoshima Prefecture and well known for Sakurajima, an active volcano that faces Kinko Bay. At its base, the Nagisa Lava Trail winds through lava fields filled with boulders. Once set on an isolated island, the volcano became connected to the Osumi Peninsula after an eruption in 1914.
I rode on the JR Shinkansen from Fukuoka’s Hakata station and took me about 2 hrs to reach this southern most city. Love the warm weather here unlike in Fukuoka that was so cold! Explored the city by foot and came by several key attractions and shopping malls. Also visited the street shopping and watched a live performance!
