Mifune Dinosaur Museum:
The town’s natural history museum is located at 995-6 Mifune, Mifune Town, Kamimashiki-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture. It has the Mifune Fossil Plaza as a place to experience fossil excavation.
In 1979, Japan’s first carnivorous dinosaur fossils were discovered in the Mifune Formation in Mifune Town, and in 1990, dinosaur fossils were discovered in a group around the Tengun Dam.
Therefore, Mifune is currently known as the town of dinosaur.
