Welcome back to the Sasebo section of YouTube! Things on this side of the world have been a little quiet due to the current state of the pandemic. While I’d love to be out enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery in Japan the reality is that it isn’t socially responsible to be going to crowded places. I am happy to say I am fully vaccinated, but in order to respect the host country I’ve definitely had to cancel a few trips and dial my travel plans back. That’s ok though! I’m still finding safe activities to do in the area and today is one of them!

Today we are driving about 90 minutes to Isahaya/Konagai, Japan to check out the famous “fruit-shaped” bus stops! These 5 fruit shapes (but 16 total bus stops) were built in 1990 for an expo held in Osaka. They moved them to the city of Konagai, Japan where they have become a bit of a local tourist attractions and have even gone viral on Instagram for how picture perfect they are.

The bus stops are actually in really great condition considering they are older than I am (ha!) but they are still functioning bus stops so that did make them a little tricky to photograph. The road they line is a bit busier than we expected and it was also a very hot day out. I would say this is a fun activity to do if you are in the area and have time to stop at one or two. Be careful with small children though as the cars are moving pretty fast right next to the bus stops. Overall, we had a fun time and I’ll definitely cherish the photos we have from the day!

As always I hope you enjoyed this video and if you are interested in visiting any of the places mentioned in this video below are the google pins to get you there!

Base Café:

(Base Café did say they take credit card, but my friend was having trouble using hers so I do recommend bringing cash just in case). Also, be sure to check their Instagram for their hours just in case they have changed due to the pandemic.

Fruit Bus Stops:

This is just the location to one, keep your eyes open as this was the first one we came across (watermelon). The location wasn’t the best but like I mentioned they have 16 total bus stops so you can cruise down this road and eventually see them all.

Enjoy!
