The major Yamanote train line is the A-list of Tokyo destinations – connecting the city’s major business and entertainment districts. Among them is the oddball Uguisudani – it’s that one station everyone fails to notice, but no one gets off of. It makes you scratch your head in wonder as to how & why Uguisudani was added to the mix.
To add salt to injury, Uguisudani has an unfortunate PR problem.
On one side there’s a cemetary (queue cries of crows), and immediately outside the station are love hotels, giving the area an unwelcoming vibe.
In saying all that though, Uguisudani is a interesting part of town and is just next to the famous Ueno. It’s gaining popularity as a foodie joint, especially as a low-key hotbed for ramen. As a very small area you should be able to see everything in around 30 mins.
