Ebetsu was settled originally by Japanese people in 1871, who came from the Miyagi Prefecture on Honshu. The name Ebetsu is derived from the Ainu name of the Chitose River which flows into the Ishikari River in the city.
Mt. Moiwa Summit Observation Deck – The observatory on the top of Mt. Moiwa is located at an elevation of 531 meters. Take the ropeway and Morris car (mini cable car) to the summit, and you will be rewarded with a spectacular night view, which is like a carpet of jewels scattered across the Ishikari Plain.
Sapporo TV Tower Observatory Deck – The TV Tower, a landmark of central Sapporo. The 90-meter-high observation deck provides a 360-degree panoramic view of Sapporo. Not to mention about the western view that offers a full view of events like Snow Festival, it is also splendid that the eastern night view of “urban” and “natural” landscape, which is a typical view of Sapporo.
The Blue Pond is a man-made pond feature in Biei, Hokkaido, Japan. It is the result of works on the Biei River, carried out after the 1988 eruption of Mount Tokachi, to protect the town of Biei from volcanic mudflows.
Shirahige Falls is a spectacular waterfall situated 600 meters above sea level in the town of Biei, southeast of Asahikawa. White curtains of water cascading through gaps in the cliff give this natural landmark its name, which means “white beard waterfall.” Shirahige Falls is unusual for a Japanese waterfall in that it flows from an underground river.
