DATE:summer 2021 沖縄には数多くの離島があり、沖縄県南西部にあるのが八重山諸島。沖縄本島の那覇市から約 410km離れている石垣島や西表島，竹富島、日本最西端の与那国島に、政治，経済の中心は石垣島になっている。2021年7月には奄美大島、徳之島、沖縄島北部と合わせて固有性の高い生態系を有することから西表島が世界自然遺産に登録された。
The Yaeyama Islands are the remotest part of Japan from the main islands and contain Japan’s most southern and most western inhabited islands.
Of the Yaeyama Islands, Ishigaki Island is the most populated and serves as the region’s transportation hub.
Iriomote Island is the second largest island in the prefecture after　Okinawa Main Island.In particular, Iriomote Island and Yonaguni Island are world famous. While Iriomote Island is covered by a dense jungle and is home to many rare creatures.
