Today’s stream was in Japan’s 2nd largest city, Yokohama! This is a port city located just south of Tokyo and only 30 minutes north of Yokosuka, my hometown.
This is the city where foreign trade and Western influence came into Japan after the end of Japan’s Isolationist Period.
We started off the stream near Motomachi, a quaint little boutique shopping street, and walked into Yokohama’s Chinatown. This is the biggest Chinatown in Japan, and one of the largest in the world! There are 10 different gates to this old neighborhood full of famous street food and restaurants. The last time I had visited Yokohama’s Chinatown was when I was in elementary school or middle school!
Afterward, we walked out towards the city’s harbor area, known as Minato Mirai (Port of the Future). It is home to the famous Landmark Tower, Cosmo Clock 21 ferris wheel (once the world’s largest), and the famous Red-brick Warehouses used by Customs officials to handle all the imports of goods more than 100 years ago.
I apologize for the windy noise, this was unforeseen and not predicted by the Yokohama weather forecast I had read about the night before. That report said it would be around 16°C with partly sunny skies. It ended up being windy with zero sun, totally overcast, and around 8°C the entire day.
I want to say thank you everyone who watched the stream and who donated in the Super Chat, especially Cody ($100), Aniel ($100), and my aunt with the insane $300 dono! ❤❤❤
I really want to go back to Yokohama a lot and film all around that wonderful port city. I had even thought about moving down there and after today’s visit, I might heavily consider it for 2021. We’ll see…
