🇺🇸 We drive the mini camper van from Doshi to Lake Yamanaka and then via expressways, tunnels and mountain passes to Ito on the Pacific coast!

In this third part of our four-part “Camper Van In Japan” mini-series, we drive from the Michi-no-Eki at Doshi to nearby Lake Yamaka (“Swan Lake”) and experience a Denny’s restaurant in Japan!

After a hearty meal of Chicken Curry, Hamburger Steak and Fried Chicken, and some Tempura Seafood, we walk around the Lake Yamanaka area (sadly there was no time to ride the double-decker swan boat!) and then set out on the 2-hour drive to the marine town of Ito in Shizuoka Prefecture, which is on the Pacific Ocean.

The drive takes a little longer than the expected 2 hours due to road works on the mountain pass over the coastal range into Ito, but we make it in plenty of time to have a look around the area and grab dinner at one of the restaurants at Michi-no-Eki Ito.

Tomorrow we set off back to Yokohama, but not before visiting Mount Omura (an extinct volcano), Shirahama Beach, and unexpectedly crossing the unique Kawaza Naradaru looped bridge! That’s for next time!
