As part of our Dance in Cuba series, we bring you to the town of Guantanamo to experience a piece of Cuban-Haitian culture that is particular to this region. This fiery Haitian-influenced war dance presented by Babul’s amazing dancers and musicians, is dedicated to the Loa, Ogoun.

On our annual Cuba Dance Tours to the eastern part of the island, we learn about different dance and music styles of the region. We explore Salsa and Rueda de Casino in Santiago de Cuba, and then we visit Guantanamo to learn about Son, Changui and Haitian-influenced genres. Our travelers get to experience the fullness of the folkloric traditions in private performance with this premier folkloric dance company that recently celebrated their 25th anniversary. Their repertoire includes music and dance with Haitian, West Indian, and African roots. The company’s founding director is our dear friend, the talented and hard-working, Ernesto Llewellyn.
