Kiyotsu Gorge is one of Japan’s most scenic destinations
Designated a national park in September 1949,
of the beauty of its impressive porphyritic diorite rock and columnar jointing,
the gorge is considered one of the threemost spectacular in Japan,
Kurobe Gorge and Osugi Canyon.
The gorge’s towering walls, grasping the Kiyotsu River between them, form a V-shaped ravine,
and the sight of the magnificent columnar jointing of the bare rock
