A journey into the Japanese art of Noh Theater

Noh Theatre, one of the world’s oldest forms of theater still preformed today, has a history so fascinating and rich, it definitely shouldn’t be missed!
Due to its unique and otherworldly nature, Noh holds the title of the first Intangible Cultural Heritage to be designated by UNESCO.

In this movie, Adrienne Hruby, an American residing in Japan for 10 years, will take you along as she visits one of the birthplaces of Noh, Tamba.
Here she gets the amazing opportunity to interview Noh musician, Mr. Ueda. In addition to performing, Mr. Ueda has also created many new works, including AMABIE, a rarity in the long standing world of Noh. It is through these innovations and a renewed interest in Noh from Japanese and foreigners alike that the theater can continue to thrive.

Although this is just a taste of all that Noh has to offer, along with Adrienne, we hope this helps viewers form a deeper understanding and appreciation for the Japanese art of Noh.
