What an amazing spectacle! These people in the photo are just two of the 72 participants from the Tatebayashi Arm-Held Fireworks Festival in late July in Gunma Prefecture each year. Each person holds a bamboo cannon filled with gun powder, which shoots a blinding light 10 meters (32 feet) upwards when lit. Unfortunately, while the 2021 festival has been canceled, we look forward to its return next year.
