Cycling in Japan: The Keinawa Cycle Road (Part 1)

If you are planning on Cycling in Japan across the Kansai region then there is a good chance that you’ll use the network of Riverside Cycle Roads and Paths that connect the area. By extending the Kyotoyawatakizu Cycling Road (京都八幡木津サイクリングロード), which ran from Kyoto to Kizu City, the new rebranded Keinawa Cycle Road (京奈和自転車道) now passes through historic Nara, and go as far as Wakayama. The extended Keinawa Cycle Road (京奈和自転車道) is sure to become a top cyclist destination for those Cycling in Japan when the country reopens after the global COVID pandemic.

In this video, we explore the Katsura River (桂川) section of the route, leaving Kyoto from Arashiyama and making the 20-kilometer ride to the confluence where the Kizu River section begins. More on the Kizu to Nara section in Part 2. (Coming soon).
