Do Okinawans Want Their Independence Back?

In this video, I explore Naha in search of Ryuukyuuan ruins and history. I first stop at The Former Chongyuan Temple Stone Gate, then from there I make my way to Shurijo Castle. There I met a new friend and after checking out the castle and playing with the ducks, we made our way to Kinjo Stone Road where we had an amazing lunch at a restaurant at the bottom of the road. We then went our separate ways and I headed back to the hostel. Along the way back I introduce you to Rob Kajiwara, the native Ryukyuan that taught me a lot about the Lewchuan history and its culture.

Disclaimer*
I know this is a sensitive topic. For many years, Japan and Okinawa have had a very long and tense relationship, and when you throw in America and the military presence here on the island, I know it can get a little messy and complicated. I by no means am an expert on the issue. I simply wanted to learn as much as possible about the island of Okinawa and its people before coming here. I just took what I already knew about Japan and what I recently learned from books and other sources on YouTube and I tried my best to relay that information to you. Please, always do your own research.

Alo Japan.
