Renge Temple
The Lotus Temple of Nichiren Shoshu is called Hoshikosan. Although the date of its establishment is unknown, it is said that the temple was founded in Hoshikawa Village, Tachibanaki County (Hoshikawa, Hodogaya-ku, Yokohama City) by Hizan Shonin in the Muromachi Period (the Northern and Southern Dynasties Period), after which Nichiren Shonin (who passed away in 1741, the first year of the Kanpo Era) moved to this area and founded the temple. In the precincts of the temple, there is the graveyard of Inoue Enryo, the founder of the Philosophical Hall (the gravestone is a circular stone placed on top of a well.) It is a large temple located on Mejiro Street, across Nakano Street from Philosophical Hall Park.
