A guide for visiting the Walker Canyon Poppy Fields in Lake Elsinore California to enjoy California Wild Flowers. Walker Canyon Ecological Reserve is 490 acres of natural beauty located in Riverside County along the Interstate 15 Freeway.
The hiking path to the flower fields is right off of the Interstate 15 Freeway and the Lake Street exit. Lake Street turns in to a dirt road just to the east of the freeway. You’ll want to hike up that dirt road for about 20-30 minutes to reach the area with the best flowers. Plenty of street parking is available on Walker Canyon Road. Make sure to use the bathroom somewhere else, as no restrooms are available at the trail head.
In addition to California Poppies, you’ll find purple and blue flowers here as well.
Also — watch out for rattlesnakes!
