We waited, waited, and waited for the money and today is the day we get some money for us to continue our journey.
Western Union came through and we received NPR 160,000 and all of it was gone in paying all dues for our stay and food over the past 3 days.
The family decided to fly back to Lukla in a helicopter and we 4 boys decided to continue our journey with a little detour.
We were advised by Tommy from Namche that instead of taking the traditional route, We should head off to Gokyo and then cross the Chola Pass to join the trail to Everest Base Camp. This is beautiful and we obliged and listen to this 62-year-old Swedish stranger who has spent the majority of his life in the Nepali Mountains.
We were lent 50,000 NPR by Mr. Pasang to continue with our journey.
So 4 boys in unknown territory, post lockdown and trekking into the Himalayas of Nepal with only 50,000 NPR and 7 more days to go!
It was a challenge, we accepted. It just meant that we are to going to be spending money on luxuries.
We left Namche Bazaar at 10 30 AM and headed to Dole.
Altitude climb from 3400 mts to 4110 mts in 7 hours.
We were warned by a local not to do this trek so fast, coz we may die (she was being sarcastic)
We saw Mount Everest on our way to Dole.
We crossed the village of Kyangjuma and looking for the sign to Gokyo, we saw majestic Ama Dablam Mountain in front of us.
It was a steep climb to Mong la, with loads and loads of steps.
We had our lunch overlooking these mighty mountains and to our surprise, the owner of Dole Viewpoint Lodge was here and agreed to take us along to his lodge. MIRACLE
Lakpa the owner of dole view Point is the husband of Penma in Tok Tok.
We found a lodge for the night.
There were frozen waterfalls on our way to Dole.
We crossed Phortse Tanga and as the sun was setting down, it was getting chillier and the air getting thinner.
Around 5 pm, we made it to the lodge and we called it a day.
We got cozy around the fire and the evening passed by talking to the host and fellow other travelers.
Our damage for the day was breakfast, lunch, and dinner money and 1 small bottle of rum to keep us warm.
Breakfast porridge 350 NPR
Lunch Daal Bhat 500 NPR
Dinner Daal Bhaat 500 NPR
Rum 600 NPR shared by 4 of us
Well, we were old and happy and excited for what’s coming next.
See you next week in Gokyo.
Thanks, Vishwa, Aakash, Karan, Saas & Rakesh Bhai & Family.
Abrazos,
Paco
