Keeping to our trend of rainy Saturdays and sunny Sundays, we headed to Southern Chiba to explore Katsuura, a spot famous for its coastline and coastal trails. We initially wanted to visit the Katsuura Submarine Park (an ocean-viewing deck at the end of a pier, plus an underwater observatory inside a lighthouse for watching marine life) but because of the weather, it was closed.
Instead, we visited the Yoro Ravine in Otaki on Saturday to see two picturesque waterfalls (Konjin Waterfall and Awamata Waterfall), and then on Sunday we took advantage of the great weather to walk along the Ubara Utopia Hiking Trail on a cape in Ubara.
Like we mentioned before, Chiba may not have as many attractions as most prefectures, but it has so much to offer. If you want to spend some time in nature, but don’t want to travel too far out from Tokyo, we really recommend heading out to Chiba for a some adventure!
