It is a Buddhist temple of the Sōtō Sect (曹洞宗), founded in the 15th century by Takagi Clan (高城氏), which is a part of Chiba Clan (千葉氏).
Chiba clan is a lineage of Minamoto clan (Genji (源氏) /Imperial lineage)
Genji is well-known for the tale of Genji.
Sōtō sect is one of two Zen Buddhist schools in Japan as well as Rinzai sect, and was originated by Master Dogen in the 13th century.
Basic teaching of Sōtō is to attain the enlightenment by meditation, Kouan ; through the inner journey of oneself.
Chiba Prefecture (千葉県, Chiba-ken) is a prefecture of Japan located in the Kantō region of Honshu.
Chiba Prefecture :population of 6,278,060 (1 June 2019)
geographic area of 5,157 km2 (1,991 sq mi)
It is situated at the east of Tokyo, and is a part of the Greater Tokyo Area.
It is a commuter town and takes only about 1 hour to commute to the heart of Tokyo.
Chiba is a home to Narita International Airport, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Resort, and the Keiyō Industrial Zone. 😀
