We introduce a very nice Japanese Style Hotel.
The established theory of the Kyoto machiya is that it is a wooden house built between the end of the Edo period and before the war. Most machiya are characterized by a narrow frontage and depth. There is a garden on the long, narrow dirt path leading from the entrance to the back of the house, and along the path is the kitchen and the back room. When the doors of the toriwa garden are opened, there is a path for the wind to pass through. The lattice doors and insect-gate windows are used to make it possible to see the outside from the inside and difficult to see the inside from the outside.
The number of kyomachiya has been decreasing due to the difficulty of maintaining them, but in recent years, more and more guesthouses have been opened in Kyoto by renovating old machiya and ryokan. Guesthouses are self-service lodgings where guests stay without meals. Rates are inexpensive, and dormitories are available for shared rooms, which can be easily used by single travelers.
It’s becoming more and more popular as a low-cost way to experience the local atmosphere, but be aware that the buildings are older and the air conditioning and soundproofing are not always perfect. There are no yukata or amenities available. Bathrooms and showers are also shared.
Each guesthouse has its own characteristics. Each guesthouse has its own characteristics: “Many Japanese”, “Many foreigners”, “Quiet time”, “Lively and lively”, etc. Finding a guesthouse that suits you is one of the fun things to do. One of the attractions of guesthouses is that guests can freely use the living room and other spaces where they can interact with other travelers, but some guesthouses are now offering private rooms with locks for those who want to spend time quietly and are easy to use even for older people.
