Surrounded by refreshing new green leaves with water pouring right out of the rocks, the tranquil Jinba Waterfall in Shizuoka Prefecture has a fascinating history. First Shogun of the Kamakura Period (12-14th Century), Minamoto no Yoritomo, camped by the falls the night before a battle. The water that flows comes from Mt. Fuji groundwater, so it stays the same temperature all year round. Locals even use it to keep their vegetables cool.
