Talking about food in Nagoya, Kishimen is one of Nagoya’s most famous dishes!

A noodle dish consisting of flat udon noodles in a delicious broth. It is seasoned with tamari, a condiment within the soy sauce family, strong in flavor and color. As well as of course a variety of toppings. A great dish to eat during all seasons, because it is not too heavy.

The most famous restaurant to try it, is “Miya Kishimen”, a small local restaurant chain, with a few different locations. However, the most popular one is the Jingu Branch inside the ground of the Atsuta Shrine.

It is located inside a tent, so you will actually enjoy your food outdoors, which adds to the experience if you ask me. And yes this is a popular one, so expect there to be a queue especially at lunchtime. The good news, the queue usually moves quickly as this is not a sit-down and talk kinda dish, but a fast and tasty one!
