#Japanese tradition
In the video, we visited Kawasaki Daishi Heikenji Temple in Kanagawa prefecture.
We visited there for a very specific reason, that is Hatsumode, the first visit to a temple or shrine at the beginning of the year. It is one of the most important traditional events to many Japanese. They thank the blessings that they received in the past year and pray for happiness and health in the new year.
This time we also experienced Gomagyo, a Buddist ritual of purification by fire and fulfilling wishes. Please watch the video and see what it’s like. It’s pretty impressive in my opinion!!
