Japanese food is not always from Japan. Sometimes, Japanese foods have origins in other countries – like China, Germany, Portugal, France and many others. Foods that are originally from the west and adapted into Japanese cuisine are often called yōshoku.
The types of “Japanese” food talked about in this video are ramen (noodles), omurice (mix of omelette and fried rice), tempura (aka. tenpura – fried shrimp, vegetables and more), hambagu (like hamburgers but served more like steak) and korokke (like croquette – made of potatoes and other ingredients).
