Today we are taking you to the Love bridge at Rokusonno Shrine to be found in Minami-Ku Kyoto City the old capital of Japan.
Close to Kyoto station you may fine one of the 3 Genji shrines in Japan.
famous for its cherry blossoms, Rokusonno shrine is about 15 minutes walk from Kyoto Station’s Hachijoguchi exit.
Rokusonno shrine is a spot known only by the locals for its beautiful cherry blossoms.
Over a thousand years ago, the shrines waas built to enshrine Minamoto no Tsunemoto, the son Imperial Prince Sadazumi the sith son of emperor Seiwa.
Tsunemoto was a samurai anf Imperial Prince during the Heian period. And bacause he was called Rokusonno (literally means sixth grand child) the shrines was named after him.
This shrine is place where you can pray for goo things for all your life.
this is also known as a place to pray for the prosperity of your defendants.
the other 2 shrines are located in Kawanishi city in Hyogo Prefecture, Tada Jinja and in Habikino City in Osaka prefecture , Tsuboi Hachimangu.
In the middle of the shrine you can find Taiko-bashi, also known as the bridge of love.
Many locals believed that by crossing this street you may find one true love.
You have to sincerely wish for a good partner while crossing this bridge.
Usually there are no foreign tourist in here and only locals know about this not so secret cherry blossoms spot.
Rokusonno shrine is also close by Toji temple, a five story pagoda.
