This time I walked around the shopping street in Biratori Town. Biratori Town is about 2 hours drive from Sapporo. It is a town that inherits the culture of the Ainu, the indigenous people of Hokkaido. It is also known for producing delicious beef and tomatoes. It’s a small shopping street in a small town, but I get the impression that the town is developing with more new buildings. A little further away from the center, the old-fashioned building still remains, which makes you feel nostalgic.

今回は、平取町の商店街を歩いてみました。平取町は札幌から車で約2時間、日高エリアにあります。この町は白老町と並び、アイヌ文化の継承地として知られおり、また、平取和牛やトマトの産地として道内では有名です。小さな町の小さな商店街ですが、新しい建物も多く、発展している印象を受けました。一方で中心部からちょっと外れると古い建物がまだ多く残っており、それが懐かしさを感じさせてくれます。
