From Tokyo to visit Gunma, Tochigi, Ibaraki, Saitama and Chiba is very easy train or bus ride. Spare a day or two to visit these places to find some amazing scenery, food or festivals you can enjoy.
Gunma is a mountainous and landlocked Prefecture. It’s known for its hot springs (onsen) and ski areas. The small town of Kusatsu has more than 100 hot springs to enjoy.
Tochigi is well known by Nikko National Park, is home to Tōshō-gū, famous carving by far is the Three Wise Monkeys. The first “sees no evil” another “speaks no evil” and the last “hears no evil” see them in your eyes.
Ibaraki, North of Tokyo is known for Kairakuen Park, where myriad plum trees bloom in late February and March. Mount Tsukuba offer hiking trails.
Saitama is in greater Tokyo area, the Railway Museum traces rail history from the steam engines to bullet trains. Kawagoe city is known for well-preserved Edo-era buildings. West, the 3 Kuroyama Santaki falls cascade down mountains. Chichibu city is home to the 34 Buddhist temples of the Kannon Pilgrimage.
Chiba, Tokyo’s eastern outskirts and rural Bōsō Peninsula. The sprawling Tokyo Disney Resort, in the city of Urayasu, encompasses multiple theme parks, hotels and a shopping complex. Northeastern Kujūkuri Beach stretches some 60km along the Pacific Ocean.
