Hidden 1000 year old temple in Nagano Prefecture | Nunobiki Kannon Shakusonji [Cycling Japan]

Legend has it the Buddha turned himself into a cow and dragged an unrepentant woman to Nagano City.

Nunobiki Kannon Shakusonji is a beautiful temple located on a cliff face in Nagano prefecture. Built nearly 1000 years ago, this temple is dedicated to the Bodhisattva Kannon. Because this temple is located in an obscure location, in a small corner of Nagano, it is often over looked by tourist and travelers.
