Kakunodate is a small historic village with the history of the Samurai clans who lived in this area still preserved to-date. It takes you back to the medieval age of Japanese culture where you can visit some of the traditional homes and explore the lifestyle of the Samurai households.

It also has some truly stunning cherry blossom areas so if you are lucky enough to visit during the Sakura season, please visit this historic village, and explore all the wonderful things this area has to offer.

The Hinokinai River banks are flanked by Sakura trees on its’ banks for almost 2 kilometres, and it forms a stunning tunnel of cherry blossom trees that you can walk through.

This area is also known for the Shidare-zakura cherry blossom trees, which are commonly known as Weeping Cherry Trees, so don’t miss them while you explore the village.
